Estherville – Mrs. Johannah Christensen, 92, Estherville died Friday [May 11, 1979] morning at Rosewood Manor, Estherville.

Services for Mrs. Christensen were held Monday at Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Nielsen, she was born April 12, 1887, at Tipton. She received her education in Tipton and Bode schools and was married to Jens C. Christensen on July 15, 1904, at Humboldt. The couple moved to Emmet County in 191, where they were engaged in farming until retiring in 1948 and moving into Estherville.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Christensen is survived by three sons, Roy Christensen, Wesley Christensen and Nels Christensen, all of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Evelyn) Hoganson, Estherville, and Mrs. Vernon (Eldora) Jensen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sena Peterson, Estherville; and Mrs. Tena Jensen, Humboldt; and two brothers, Jens Nielsen, Ceylon, Minn., and Andrew Nielsen, Beloit, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, two sisters and one great granddaughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 14, 1979)
