Estherville – Services for Jens P. Christensen, 77, Estherville, were held Monday morning at the Estherville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Christensen died Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville. Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Christensen, he was born Jan. 26, 1901, at Humboldt. He received his education in Humboldt schools and was married to Beaulah Hornby Dec. 27, 1922, at Estherville. He lived and farmed in the Estherville area most of his life, retiring in 1975 and moving to Estherville in 1977.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Emmet County Farm Bureau and a past member of the Gruver School’s Board of Education.

Mr. Christensen is survived by his wife, Beaulah, Estherville; one son, Donald Christensen, Ringsted; one daughter, Mrs. George (Lorraine) Hess, Estherville; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Einer Christensen, Estherville; and two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Shaw, Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Birger Handeland, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 28, 1978)
