Estherville – Funeral services for Beulah D. Christensen, 93, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11 at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Saturday, October 7 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on October 10, 1901 in Estherville, the daughter of Harry E. and Ida (Hasbrook) Hornby. She received her education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School. Following graduation, she was a teacher in the rural Emmet County schools. She was united in marriage to Jens P. Christensen on December 27, 1922 in Estherville. The couple farmed in the Estherville area until Mr. Christensen’s retirement in 1975. They moved into Estherville in 1977. He died on August 26, 1978. Later she became a resident at Holy Family Hospital Apartments and then in August 1993, moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville, UMW, Alpha Club, Good Samaritan Circle, past Matron of North Star Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, past Worthy High Priestess of Temple Shrine #49 and charter member of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary. She was also a member of the East Riverside Club and a long-time member of the Emmet County Farm Bureau.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George (Lorraine) Hess of Estherville; one son, Donald Christensen of Estherville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eva Munson of Palm Desert, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 9, 1995)
