Estherville – Funeral services for Audrey M. Ostheimer, 85, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at the First Christian Church in Estherville with Pastor Will Reger officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Audrey was born on March 12, 1917 in Hoprig, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Emma E. (Buckingham) Race. She received her education in the rural country school.

On Feb. 17, 1962, she was united in marriage to Earl “Pete” Ostheimer in Sioux Falls, S.D. After their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville. Audrey was employed at Sioux Valley Fish Line Company and Woolworth’s in Estherville. Later she was employed t Brekley’s in Spirit Lake. Pete died September 25, 2002.

Audrey was an active member of the First Christian Church and VFW Post 3388 Ladies Auxiliary and MOCA in Estherville.

Audrey is survived by daughter Janet Catelli and her husband, Frank of Hesperia, Calif.; daughter, Beverly Whitacre and her husband, Melvin, son, Robert Hockett and his wife, Sandy; step-daughter, Theresa Dalen and her husband, Irlan, all of Estherville; step-son, Gary Ostheimer and his wife, Lu of Windsor, Colo.; adopted son, Richard Crees and his wife, Diane of Estherville; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Merta Mae Brown of Sun Lake, Ariz.

She has been preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Wanda Hockett Crees; parents; and one sister, Mayme Long.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Alzheimer’s association or Hospice Care. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 30, 2003)
