Estherville – Funeral services for Russell Agerbeck, 74, of Estherville will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., Jan 21 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery with full military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville. He died on Sun., Jan. 18 at his home in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born on January 11, 1924 at Dunnell, Minn., the son of Soren and Oline (Christensen) Agerbeck. He has lived all his life in the Dunnell and Estherville area. He received his education in the Emmet Consolidated School in rural Estherville. He served during World War II in the United States Army.

On December 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Irma Strube in Fostoria. The couple farmed until 1978 when they moved into Estherville. They owned and operated I & R Drive Inn from1969-1978. He has operated a snow removal business since 1969. Irma died April 8, 1985. On August 2, 1986 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Behrens at Huntington United Methodist Church. He retired from farming in 1987. Dorothy died September 3, 1995.

He was a member of the Huntington United Methodist Church and served as a Lay Leader. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3388, serving as Post Commander and a board member for many years, and also a member of the American Legion Post 91. He was very active with the Memorial avenue of Flags ceremony during Memorial Day. He served on the Dunell School Boards, ASCS of Martin County, a 4-H leader for the Lake Fremont 4-H Club, Martin County 4-H Council member and a Boy Scout Council member in Estherville,

He is survived by daughters, Mrs. Roy (Berniece) Jensen of Dunnell, Minn.; Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Christiensen of Estherville; step-sons Richard Behrens of Sebastopol, Calif., Douglas Behrens of Occidental, Calif.; Daniel Behrens of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; sister, Anna Agerbeck of Fairmont, Minn.; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Don (Sylvia) Strube-Poyzer of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, one infant daughter and his two wives. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 20, 1998)
