Paul Weir Dies at 72
Paul Weir, 72, lifetime Estherville area resident and retired farmer, died suddenly yesterday at 2:45 p.m. in the Spirit Lake Clinic while waiting to see his physician. His death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Weir had farmed all his life in this area and for many years had lived on the farm where he and Mrs. Weir were married 48 years ago.

Paul Burton Weir was born April 12, 1893, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Weir of Estherville. He received his education in the Estherville schools and was married April 1, 1917, to Elma Crumb of Estherville, at the farm home of her parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Weir retired from active farming five years ago but had continued to make their home on the farm.

Mr. Weir was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and at the time of his death was an active elder of the church.

He is survived by his widow; a son, Elmer, and his wife, Janice, of Lincoln, Ill.; two grandchildren, Gregory and Gay, both of Lincoln, and four brothers, Lynn, F.G. and Donald of Estherville and Lee of Plainfield, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private services for the immediate family are to be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home. Church services will be at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 10:30 a.m. family service Friday and from noon Friday until time of services they may call at the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 8, 1965)
