Estherville – Services for James Rodney West, 16, Estherville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Union Baptist Church in Estherville, with Dr. Forrest Whitlatch officiating. Services will also be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Church in Weldon. Burial will be at Osceola. He was dead on arrival at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake, following a three-car collision Saturday evening, Jan. 12, 1985.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born May 4, 1968, in Monticello, the son of the Rev. Edward and Eula (Keeler) West. He received his early education in the Shenandoah and Bettendorf schools and in 1981 he moved with his family to Estherville where he was a junior at Estherville High School. He was active in sports, participating in football, wrestling and track events. A member of the Church of The Nazarene, Estherville, he was also active in summer church camps.

Survivors include his parents, the Rev. Edward and Eula West, Estherville; three brothers, Kevin, Olathe, Kan., Geron, Estherville, Mark, Osceola; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nutter, Swan, and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Keeler, Weldon. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 14, 1985)
