Estherville – Services for Steven Craig Roberts, 16, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Estherville, with Pastor Mark Jolivette officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery. He was dead on arrival at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake, following a three-vehicle accident Saturday evening, Jan. 12, 1985.Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville.
He was born Jan. 30, 1968, in Cherokee, the son of Kenneth and Jane (Edwards) Roberts. At the time of his death he was a junior at Estherville High School. He moved to Estherville with his family in 1972 and in August of 1983, the family moved to McAllen, Texas. Roberts returned to Estherville on Dec. 23, 1984 to continue his junior year and to graduate with the class of 1986. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was confirmed in 1982.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Jane Roberts, McAllen, Texas; a brother, Tim Roberts, McAllen, Texas, a half brother, John Sangwin, serving in the armed forces; paternal grandmother, Eva Roberts, Estherville; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kirkpatrick, Storm Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Oral Edwards, Cherokee; maternal great grandmother, Mrs. Mae Streeter, of Storm Lake.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 14, 1985)
