Estherville – Service for Wayne Jay (Bud) Spalding, 68, Estherville, were held at Monday morning at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman, Estherville Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville.

Mr. Spalding died Thursday [June 29, 1978] at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Spalding, he was born June 22, 1910, [SS index says June 26, 1910] at Gruver. He attended Gruver schools, graduating from high school in 1928.

Mr. Spalding was married to Pearl Heidecker at Humboldt on Sept. 3, 1932. The couple lived in Estherville, where he was employed by Donovan Motors for 40 years until retiring three years ago. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, Estherville; one son, Paul J. Spalding, Los Angeles, Calif.; and a twin sister, Mrs. F.I. (Wava Mae) Skattebo, Wallingford.

Mr. Spalding was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 3, 1978)
