Estherville Services for Lyle Melvin Skow, 76, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Dr. John Besore, III officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside services by the VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville. He died Monday, Jan. 20, 1992 at Veterans Administration Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Nov. 13, 1915 at Armstrong [per Iowa birth records, Seneca Township, Kossuth Co.], the son of Magnus and Katherine (Bogh) Skow and graduated from Seneca High School in 1935. He was united in marriage with Violet Rick in 1940. He served in World War Two in the Army Air Corp. On February 14, 1956 he married Luverne (Loewenberg) Phillips in Estherville. He was employed with Peoples Natural Gas, Hill Packing Co. and later John Morrell & Co. in Estherville until retiring in 1968.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church; Moose Lodge; American Legion of Graettinger; active in Local 79 and a member of a bowling league many years.

Survivors include his wife, Luverne of Estherville; two sons: Marvin Skow of Sioux Falls and Fred Phillips of Desota; three daughters: Mrs. Michael (Sheryl Skow) Berry, Sioux Falls; Margaret Phillips Wonderlich and Mrs. Jerry (ViAnn Skow) Bradley, Estherville; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters: Fern Peterson and Mrs. George (Joan) Manz of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; one step-daughter; one granddaughter; parents and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 22, 1992)
