Mildred Valentine Sheppard, the daughter of Robert G. and Adaline (Murphy) Sheppard, was born February 14, 1909, in Danville, Illinois. She died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Lutz Wing of Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 96 years.

She received her education in the Westville, Illinois schools.

On May 24, 1928, Mildred was united in marriage to Herman W. Golla in Danville. In 1932, they moved to Estherville, Iowa. Mildred was a home maker and was a devoted mother. Herman died September 29, 1947. On January 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to Cecil Oulman in Jackson, Minnesota. Cecil died January 21, 1971. When Mildred was younger she enjoyed fly fishing with Cecil. In her leisure time she enjoyed going out and eating dinner, joking with others, spending time at their cottage at the lake and dancing. The greatest pleasure that Mildred had in life was spending time with her family. In July of 2001, due to failing health, Mildred moved to Fairmont to live with her son, Bob.

Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Mildred's memory are her son, Robert H. Golla of Fairmont; and grandchildren, Andrea "Andee" Steciaw of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Gabriel "Gabe" Golla and his wife, Kellie of Marion, Iowa; several great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Peggy Vaketta and her husband, John; and Barbara Walby and her husband, Robert.
Preceding her in death were her husband's; parents; and two sisters, Caroline Falconio and Ocie Simon. (MC)
