Helen Ruth Shultz
Helen Ruth Shultz, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Shultz was born April 2, 1919 on a farm south of Estherville, and passed away at their home in Terril Sunday afternoon, October 5, 1930, at about 5 o’clock. She was at the time of her death 11 years and 6 months old.

Death followed a very brief illness and was a great shock to the family and neighbors and friends. She is survived by her parents, one brother and two sisters, one little brother having preceded her to his heavenly home. She also leaves three grandparents, several aunts and uncles as well as cousins.

Helen was a sweet child, always obedient and willing to do what her little hands could do to help in the home. She was a member of the fifth grade in school and had been taking a great deal of interest in her school work this year. She will be greatly missed in the home and by her playmates.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Terril Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock an was largely attended by relatives and friends. Several members from her school attended. Rev. W.A. Winterstein of Estherville had charge of the funeral services and the little form was laid to rest in the cemetery at Estherville by the side of the baby brother. Mrs. S.J. VanEman of Estherville has been spending the time since the death of her granddaughter, Helen Shultz with her daughter, Mrs. Shultz and family. She had just returned from attending a funeral in Chicago of a nephew. Mrs. E.V. Lesher of Cedar Rapids came Tuesday evening and remained for a few days with the Shultz family. She is an aunt of Mrs. Shultz. (Terril Record, Terril, IA, October 9, 1930)
