Mrs. Shull Dies at Home in Estherville
Death came Sunday morning, November 20, at 10:30 o’clock to relieve the suffering of Mrs. Johnathan Shull, 76, mother of Mrs. Frank Boyle of Spencer, who had been for several years an invalid at her home in Estherville. Mrs. Shull never recovered from a paralytic stroke suffered several years.

Mrs. Shull, nee Anna McGuirt, was born at Ft. Smith, Ark. Her father was killed in the Civil war and she was left an orphan when a small child. With the family who took her as one of their own, she moved to Russell county, Kansas, as a child. There she was married when 16 years old, to Mr. Shull.

Early in their married life they move to Illinois but returned to Kansas and 16 years ago moved to Estherville. Mr. Shull passed away 10 years ago.

Mrs. Shull often visited in Spencer and made her home for several years with her daughter, Mrs. Boyle, and has a wide circle of friends in this vicinity.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shull. All are living with the exception of Otis who died in 1923. Those surviving are Mrs. Frank Boyle of Spencer, Everett, Levi, Will, Freeman and Mrs. C.C. McLean of Estherville, Mrs. Bert Libby of Elmwood, Ill., Mrs. Chas. Campbell of Gowrie, Mrs. Eli Shull of McCordsville, Ind., and Joe Shull of Fortville, Ind.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel at Estherville and from the church at Terril. Interment was made at Terril. (Spencer News Herald, Spencer, IA, December 2, 1932)
