Funeral Services Monday Afternoon For C.E. Seid, 79
Charles Edward Seid, 79, died Thursday [February 7, 1952] night at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mr. Wylie Dean, where he had made his home for the last three years. He had been in failing health for about a month, but was able to be up and about the house until his death.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hitchcock-McKee Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Laurens Church of Christ, officiating. Mrs. Darwin Larson, Harry L. Lund and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Lund, accompanied by Mrs. Mae Clanton, sang “Beautiful Isle” and “In the Garden.”

Pallbearers were Roy Dingman, John Forry, Earl Cone, J.H. Phillips, Art Maysilles and Harvey Baldwin. Burial was at Estherville.

Born at Avon
Charles Edward Seid, son of Catherine and John Seid, was born Aug. 28, 1872, at Avon and grew up on the family farm in Polk county. On Feb. 15, 1899, he was married to Dolly [Dolley] Farley of Milo. He was a farmer all his life, living in Buchanan and Emmet counties before coming to the Laurens community a number of years ago. He also lived in Minnesota for several years before returning to Laurens three years ago to live his daughter, Dorothy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1930, and also by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Survivors include five children, Gerald E. Seid of Kansas City, Mo., Carl L. Seid of Gheen, Minn., Kathryn (Mrs. Morris) Irwin of Scio, Ore., Dorothy (Mrs. Wylie) Dean of Laurens, and Paul E. Seid of Cylinder; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. (Laurens Sun, Laurens, IA, February 7, 1952)
