Joe Scott Dies Here Wednesday
Funeral services for Joe Scott, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville. Mr. Scott died at his home Wednesday, Oct. 13.Mr. Scott was born July 15, 1906, at Heyworth, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Scott, received his education in Estherville schools and was married to Opal Madden Sept. 3, 1938, at Estherville.
Following their marriage, Mr. Scott spent 17 years with the Rock Island in Estherville before moving to Lansing, Ill., where he was employed by Cities Service Oil Refinery of East Chicago, Ind., until his retirement in July of 1971. They returned to Estherville in August.
Survivors include his wife, Opal; two sons, Stanley of Glenwood, Ill., and Douglas of Lansing, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sylvia) Goedtke of Lansing, Ill., and Mrs. Gerald (JoAnn) Braley in Okinawa; four grandchildren, three brothers, Charles of Winter Park, Fla., Raymond of Estherville and Dewey of Downers Grove, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Wickersham of Chatanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Charles Murrie of Deerfield, Ill., and Mrs. Lawrence Jensen of Estherville.
Carl Whirley of the Church of Christ will officiate with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville after 10 a.m. Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 14, 1971)
