Estherville – Services for Floyd Leonard Schenck, 80, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Wendell officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Friday, Nov. 9, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Furhman Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

He was born July 5, 1910 at rural Estherville, the son of Leonard Blain Schenck and Laura Winnefred Ball. He attended Dolliver School graduating in 1928, and he also attended Morningside College at Sioux City. On Feb. 28, 1934 he was united in marriage with Esther Gorton at rural Estherville. He was in the as business 1935-1947; farmed 1947-1959; employed as a security guard at John Morrell’s 1958-1975, later was employed by O.K. Tire Shop, Andreson Schenck and Shonkwiler’s Poultry farm.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church; Estherville Noon Kiwanis; Emmet County Historical Society and A.S.C. Committee, where he held various offices.

Survivors include his wife, Esther, Estherville; one son Wayne Schenck, Hollywood, Calif.; three grandchildren; Heather Marie and Matthew Schenck, Louisville, Ky; one brother, Ronald of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Flossie Jensen, Estherville; two daughters-in-law: Francie Schenck, Los Angeles, Calif. an Edith Schenck, Louisville, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Larry; daughter Karen and brother Raymond (Red). (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 10, 1990)
