Funeral services for Eldon C. Rouse, 81, of Spirit Lake, were held Friday, March 16, 1884, 2 p.m., at the Donovan-Leyson Chapel in Spirit Lake with Rev. Warren Paige officiating. Rouse died Wednesday, March 14, 1984, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.

Margery Redington, organist, accompanied the congregation as they sang "How Great Thou Art." Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville, Ia.

Eldon C Rouse was born to Mr. and Mrs. Chaimers Hezakiah Rouse at Lamberton, MS., on Feb. 12, 1903. He attended Millsaps College. On April 30, 1933 he married Margaret Nichol at Clarksdale, MS. As an engineer with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Rouse's career spanned a period of almost 35 years during which he worked throughout the United States on flood control projects and on the construction of military bases.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Preceding him in death was his wife Margaret. The Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake was in charge of arrangements. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, March 22, 1984)
