Funeral Held Today for W.H. Ridley
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. this morning for William Henry Ridley, 79, Estherville, who died Friday, May 19, 1972, at Rosewood Manor.

The Rev. Richard Pearson of United Methodist Church officiated over the funeral rites which were held at Reese Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Burial was made in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ridley was born Nov. 22, 1892, on a farm near Newell to Reuben and Eliza Ridley. The family moved a few years later to the Armstrong area where he received his education. He was married Nov. 27, 1913 to Rubie Gertrude Mason of Armstrong.

They moved to Estherville about 1920 where he was employed as a fireman and engineer on Rock Island Railroad until his retirement in 1952. He served as chairman of the local grievance committee of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers for several years. He also held membership in the United Methodist Church in Estherville.

He is survived by one son, W.A. Ridley of Estherville, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1952, his parents and one sister.

Serving as pallbearers for the funeral were Harold Danielson, Loyd Wilson, Jarvis Hiles, Kurt Rockne, O.C. Gibson and Francis Solmonson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 22, 1972)
