Mrs. Miller is Called; Long Ill
Aged Woman is Survived by Nine Children – Funeral Arrangements Not Yet Made
Mrs. Kate Miller, 75, invalid for more than three years, died this morning at 7:10 at her home on north Twelfth street. Mrs.Miller was stricken by a paralytic stroke three years ago last October and has been confined to her chair and bed ever since.

No funeral arrangements will be made until the arrival of several of her children. However it is probable the last rites will be held Thursday.

Mrs. Miller was born March 3, 1861 [per cemetery records, 1860], in Luxemberg, Germany, where she lived until she reached the age of 11 years, She then came to the United States locating in Belle Plaine where she was united in marriage to Herman Stammer. To this union seven children were born. After the death of Mr. Stammer she was married to Charles Miller and to this union two children were born. Mr. Miller died in Estherville in 1902.

Mrs. Miller is survived by nine children, John Stammer of Belle Plaine, Mrs. William Hartkemeyer of Van Horn, William Stammer of Motley, Minn., Mrs. Athel Hauk and Lou Stammer of Dunnell, Minn., Art Miller of Cedar Rapids and Charles (Tang) Miller of Estherville. Mrs. Kate Miller, a Pioneer of City Died Last Tuesday
Mrs.Kate Miller, for 33 years a resident of this city, passed away at her home on North 12th street early on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Miller has been ill for several years and has been bedfast for the past three years. It was about that long ago she had a severe heart attack and another followed yesterday.

She was of German descent and was seventy-six years of age at the time of her death. She came to the United States with her parents when but eleven years of age.

The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:30 from the house and at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church, the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiating.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three daughters and six sons, Mrs. Ace Hauck of Estherville, Mrs. E.J. Maniece of Estherville, Mrs. Will Hartkemeyer of Van Horn, Ia.; John Stammer of Belle Plaine, George Stammer of Huntington, William Stammer of Staples, Minn., Arthur Miller of Cedar Rapids, Charles Miller of Estherville, and Louis Stammer of Estherville.
