Funeral Services Monday
For Scott E. Miller, 87Funeral services were held Monday at the Harpole Funeral Home for Scott Miller, 87, who died Thursday, April 5, at the Dickinson County Home. The Rev. Arthur Campney of Arnolds Park officiated and interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Estherville
Mr. Miller was born in Michigan, but spent most of his life in the Spirit Lake and Estherville area. He was employed as a construction worker and surveyor.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ted Mathieson of Estherville and Mrs. Bert Lind of Spicer, Minn.; and a brother-in-law, Harry Jones of Estherville. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, April 12, 1962)
Former Resident Dies
Scott E. Miller, former resident of Estherville, died yesterday at Spirit Lake where he had lived for the past several years. Prior to that Mr. Miller had lived at Sand Bar on the east shore of Spirit Lake. Mr. Miller lived here for many years and was engaged in construction work as a carpenter at that time. He was employed for many years at the former L.L. Binha Cement Products Co. here. Mr. Miller was married in 1900 to Mary Jones at Plymouth, Wis. Mrs. Jones died in 1917. Funeral services for Mr. Miller are to be Monday at 10 a.m. at Harpole Funeral Chapel in Spirit Lake. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery here. Mr. Miller is survived by his brother-in-law, Harry Jones of Estherville, and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ted Mathieson, Estherville and Mrs. Bert Lind, Spicer, Minn.Note: according to WWI Draft Records, Scott Edward Miller was born Jun 16, 1875.
