Estherville – Mrs. Dena Martinsen, 85, Estherville, died Saturday [January 7, 1978] morning at Holy Family Hospital.

Services for Mrs. Martinsen were held Monday afternoon at the Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Glasser officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martinsen was born Aug. 15, 1892, at Petersburg, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hoffman. She came to Estherville with her parents as an infant and lived her entire life here. She was married to Charles Martinsen May 1, 1911, at Omaha, Neb.

She was a member of the Union Baptist Church and Royal Neighbors.

Mrs. Martinsen is survived by one son, Fran Martinsen, Eugene, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Claire (Helen) Nelson, rural Estherville, and Mrs. Russell (Evalyn) Naylor, Jefferson; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Schmool, Lyance, Neb.; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Carl Hoffman, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 9, 1978)
