D.P. Lawson, 84, Pioneer of County Dies Wednesday
Death came to D.P. Lawson [Lausen], a pioneer resident of Emmet County and Estherville on Wednesday [February 26, 1947] at four o’clock. He had been about until five days ago when he had a heart attack. He was eighty-four years of age and of late had not been in his usual health.

Mr. Lawson had been a farmer in this vicinity for many years but had retired and come to this city to live. He was always active while on the farm and in any activity that was of interest to the farmer. He was a man whose advice was sought in the past on farm matters.

Mr. Lawson was a man of many friends. He had a fine personality and a friendly and pleasing manner.

He was born in Germany and came with his parents to this community when a very young man. He has one son surviving, in Bakers Field, California, six grandchildren and one brother.

No arrangements have been made for the funeral service. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 27, 1947)
