Funeral Held Tuesday For Nels O. Osher
Nels Oliver Osher, 71, lifetime resident of Wallingford, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at his home there. Death was due to a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallingford Lutheran church. The Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiated. Burial was at Riverside cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Malta Jacobson, Cliff Thomas, E.T. Ellertson, Ernie Strucken, Albert Richard and John Lamack. Honorary pallbearers were Ivan Cook, Gay Nicholson, Oscar Peterson, Jamie Kasa, Clem Dotson and Hy Strampe.
Mr. Osher was born October 19, 1886 at Wallingford, the son of Edwin and Clara Olson Osher. He received his education in the Wallingford school and later attended Jewel Lutheran college at Jewel.
He was married to Winifred Boone on January 17, 1911.
A county supervisor for 16 years, Mr. Osher farmed in the Wallingford area and also worked in the former Wallingford Savings Bank. He was a longtime member of the Lutheran church there.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Mildred) Dewall of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Mrs. Clare (Viola) Sipe of Van Nuys, Calif.; four sons, Edwin of Wallingford, Dean of Hebron, Neb., Gary of Union and Wayne of Greenland; 15 grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Osher of Park Ridge, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Eda) Skattebo of Wallingford.
His parents preceded him in death.
