Estherville – Services for Mrs. Louise E. Lausen, 95, of Estherville, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Gospel Assembly, with Pastor Ernest Gafkjen officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1993 at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral home in Estherville.
She was born Feb. 5, 1898 in Estherville, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Schafer) Guge and attended Emmet County and Estherville Schools. On June 30, 1920 she married Edwin Lausen in Estherville. Following marriage the couple lived a short time in Marshalltown before returning to Estherville and later Superior. The family moved to a farm north of Estherville where she lived until 1976 when she moved into Estherville to reside at the Sunrise Apartments. She has been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since December of 1991.
She was a charter member of Calvary Gospel Assembly where she taught Sunday School many years and was a member of the Ladies Missionary Group. She was a past member of the Emmet County Historical Society.
Survivors include daughters Rosemary Browne of Rockford, Ill. and Mrs. Richard (Caroline) Eigsti of Friend, Neb.; sons: Harold of Spirit Lake and Ralph and Dennis of Estherville; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1944; her parents; one great-grandson; three sisters; six brothers and one son-in-law. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 30, 1993)
