Estherville – Services for Mrs. George (Ruth) Kibbee, 93 will be held Wednesday afternoon at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Monday, Nov. 19, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Ruth Altha Tracey was born Dec. 23, 1896 at Eagle Grove, the daughter of Joseph and Hattie Tracey. She attended Marshalltown school where she graduated from High School then attended Marshalltown Junior College one year and Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls two years. She taught school one year prior to her marriage to George Kibbee on Oct. 7, 1920 at Marshalltown. The couple lived in Forest City two years before moving to Estherville in 1922 where they have lived since.
She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School and held various church office. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and World War I Barracks Auxiliary, the Women’s Club, Garden Club and Degree of Honor lodge.
Survivors include her husband George, Estherville; one daughter-in-law Mrs. Don (Mary) Baines, Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren: Mrs. Allen (Rose) Roeder, Mrs. Randy (Julie) Grebenick both of Omaha and Mark Fallon, Meade, Neb. and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son George and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 21, 1990)
