Doretha A. Peterson
Doretha Aleon Peterson passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Reno, Nevada in the loving presence of her family on June 19, 2008 at the age of 94.

Doretha was born April 12, 1914 in Terrill, Iowa. She was raised in rural Iowa with her 4 siblings and settled in Estherville, Iowa. She was proud of her family roots. Doretha moved to Reno, Nevada in 2004 to be close to her loving daughter, family and the many friends she had developed over the years.

Doretha is preceded in death by her parents John and Julia [Hite] Frank, her husband Arthur Peterson her siblings Frances, Forest and Evelyn and beloved daughter Judy Higgs and son Steven Peterson.

Doretha is survived by her sister Verda Rierson, and husband Ervin, daughter Kay Hillerby and husband Fred, Grandchildren Monica Sheehan and husband Steve, Greg Yolanda and Johnny Horter, Brian Skog, Bradley Hillerby, Great-grandchildren Braxton, Max, Maizy and Brieze and her “other daughters” Jennifer and Judy.

A very special acknowledgement to her niece Donna Mart, the “salt of the earth” and her loving extended family; Bill Higgs, Michael, Carrie, Isaella, Emma & Maxwell Hillerby.

Doretha lived independently at Lakeside Manor in Reno, Nevada for the past 4 years. She enjoyed her independence with her cat, Kittums and loved it when company would come by and sign her “guest book”.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville (MC)
