Estherville – Services for Mrs. Melvin (Elise Margaretha) Hockett, 81, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Sunday, May 10, 1992 at her home.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville rom 4-9 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born August 21, 1910 at Wilheimshaven, Germany, the daughter of Edo and Elizabeth (Mennen) Andresen [Andressen]. She moved to Estherville area as a young girl from Germany. She attended Maple Hill School. On Sept. 1, 1929, she was united in marriage with Melvin Hockett at Estherville. The couple farmed prior to moving into Estherville in 1936. She was employed by the Soo Valley Fishline Co. for about 10 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin, Estherville; one son, Harold (Hal) Hockett, Bloomington; a son-in-law, Robert Klein, Estherville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Almine Deling, Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, (Alma Klein), two sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1992)
