Estherville – Funeral services for Joseph Heyl, 71, Estherville, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel, Estherville, with Rev. Jim Harmon officiating.

Masonic services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Henryand Olson Funeral Chapel Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Wednesday up until services on Thursday.

Heyl died Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1981)

Estherville – Joseph Heyl, 71, Estherville, died Sunday [November 15, 1981] morning at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. Jim Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services on Thursday.

The son of Lee and Julia Heyl, he was born March 22, 1910, at Sioux Falls, S.D. He was educated in the Sioux Falls schools. He married Lola Bellows Aug. 5, 1931, in Mitchell, S.D. He was an accountant in Sioux Falls until 1942, and then went into the navy during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he owned and operated the Dodge-Plymouth agency in Worthington, Minn., for 14 years. He then moved to Pipestone where he owned and operated a bowling alley for two years. He came to Estherville in 1963, where he was the owner and operator of the Gambles store for two years. He then had his own accounting business until his retirement in 1971. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Osman Temple of St. Paul and the Estherville VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Lola; one son, Dr. Bruce Heyl, Neenah, Wisc.; one daughter, Sandra Heyl, Van Nuys, Calif.; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Henry Ebsen, Horace, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 17, 1981)
