Died Wilbur Vernon Henkins was born May 8, 1883, at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and died Sept. 26, 1898, at his home in Emmet county, where the services were held by his pastor attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. The deceased was a loving son and esteemed by all who knew him. He was converted and joined the M.E. church last winter and was a faithful member of same at time of his departure. He leaves a father, mother, seven brothers and three sisters with many friends to mourn his loss. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, September 29, 1898)
Died At the home of his parents in Emmet county, Iowa, Wilbur Vernon Henkins, born May 8, 1883, departed Sept. 26, 1898. Vernon was a loving young man, esteemed by all who knew him. Last winter during the revival services, he gave his heart to God and united with the M.E. church at Ellsworth, of which he remained a faithful member. The funeral services were conducted at the home where a large concourse of friends and neighbors gathered to pay their last respects, the casket being completely covered with flowers.
