Estherville – Services for James Alan Hall, 43, of Estherville will be held Thursday, January 2, 1992, at 10:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with Rev. David Wendel officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. He died Sunday, December 29, 1991 at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral home in Estherville from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday.

He was born April 11, 1948 in Osceola, the son of James and Betty (Yount) Hall. He married Sylvia Groenewold September 5, 1971 in Spencer. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1966. He then attended Iowa Lakes Community College for two years and the University of Wyoming for one year, before graduating from Mankato State University in 1972. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Hall’s Decorating in Estherville. He was a strong supporter of Iowa Lakes Community College athletic programs, and was active in the ILCC Century Club for many years. Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, the Elks Club, he was a past president of the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Estherville Industrial Development Corp. Board of Directors.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, his mother, Betty, one daughter, Hallie, one brother, Thomas Hall, Mankato, Minn., one sister, Mrs. Tracy (Kathryn) Peterson, of Cherokee, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 30, 1991)
