Young Bride Dead
The very sad news was brought to Terrill at Tuesday that Mrs. J.H. Franks [Frank] had passed away on Monday night, June 22nd, at eleven o’clock of heart trouble after a three weeks sickness. Mrs. Franks was always a happy and loveable young woman with the best of disposition and many are the friends who sorrow over the untimely death of one of the best young ladies in this vicinity.

Tena Brant was born in Oxford, Johnson county, Iowa, on February 22, 1888, and died at her home four and one-half miles east of Terril on Monday evening, June 22nd, at 11 o’clock p.m., being at the time of her death twenty years and four months old. She lived with her parents at Oxford until she was twelve years old, moving with them in 1900 to Whittemore and from Whittemore to Ayrshire in 1901. After remaining there for five years she moved to this vicinity in 1906 and has spent the last two years of her life on the Twelve Mile Lake farm with her mother, brother and sisters until Nov. 4, 1907, when she was married to J.H. Franks. They then moved to a little home of their own which she made ever bright and happy for her husband for the short time of eight months.

She leaves beside a loving husband, a father and mother, four brothers, Chas., Melvin, Clarence and Ry, also two sisters, Lottie and Wallie, all the children being now at home.

The funeral was held from the M.E. church in Estherville yesterday at two o’clock, the last solemn rites being conducted by Rev. Cole and interment was made in the West Side Cemetery. – Terril Tribune (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, July 1, 1908)
