James Ellerston, Long-Time Resident, Dies on Friday
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the Mahlum and Anderson funeral parlors for James Ellerston who passed away last Friday at the Coleman hospital.

Ellerston was taken ill some time ago at his farm in Jack Creek township and has been in the hospital for treatment.

“Jimmie” came to this city 43 years ago with his mother and they resided on Main street two blocks east of the court house. The writer remembers well the day he arrived. His brother, Chris, came her first and then went away for a short time. Jimmie came alone and he and his twin brother looked so much alike the boys playing ball got them mixed and it became embarrassing and was for a long time as they looked so much alike it was hard to tell which was Jimmie and which was Chris. Not only did they look alike but there was a strong brotherly feeling between those brothers that was deep and lasting.

James Ellerston was born in Norway, Iowa on Sept. 7, 1876 and lived there until the family moved to this city. While he was a quiet and unassuming man he made many close friends.

Rev. La Vere Schelmandine officiated at the services. The remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery.

The deceased is survived by another brother, Edward H. of Goodland, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. H.H. Hartung of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. M.H. Schloeman of Estherville. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 18, 1937)
