H.A. Sauer, 83, Dies Following Long Illness
H.A. Sauer, 83, died at 2:15 a.m. today at Holy Family hospital after a lingering illness.

He was born Nov. 8, 1862, at West Point, Ia., and went to school in West Point and Vinton. He was married to Mary Carrigg at Waterloo. They lived in Cedar Rapids for a time where Mr. Sauer was manager of the Grand hotel. In 1899 they moved to Estherville where they lived on a farm.

His wife preceded him in death in 1930 and a daughter, Florence, died in 1925.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church.

Survivors are one son, Herman, at home and two daughters, Nell at home and Sister Mary Fidelis of Detroit, Mich.

The rosary will be said Tuesday night at 9 o’clock at the home and funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 at St. Patrick’s church with Father J.J. Keane officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 18, 1946)
