Alice McMahon Dies
Alice McMahon, 42, former Estherville resident, died yesterday morning at Cherokee state hospital following an operation, nature of which has not been disclosed. She had been ill at Cherokee for many years. She was born June 1, 1907, and lived in Estherville during her younger days. Her family lived in Estherville for many years, and her mother and two sisters moved to Portland, Ore., in 1943. She is a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Theresa McMahon, and two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Eberling and Madelaine Nytes, all three of Portland. A rosary will be recited 8 p.m. today in Sternborg funeral chapel with requiem high mass being offered 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick’s church. Burial will be at the side of her father in Catholic cemetery at Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 18, 1949)
