Charles Lamb Succumbs to Long Illness
Charles Peter Lamb, sr., 84, retired tiler and construction worker, died of uremic poisoning at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at the home of his son, Charles Lamb, jr. He had been suffering from the condition about a year and had been bedfast for a month.Lamb was born in St. Louis, Jan. 7, 1865, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lamb, and was educated in that city. Sept. 14, 1885 he was married to Julia Brading of Oakland, Ill., and the couple lived in St. Louis until 1896 when they moved to Buffalo Center.
The past 20 years, he has made his home with his son, Charles, jr. He is a member of St. Patrick’s church.
Survivors in addition to the Lambs are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Branning of Iowa Falls, 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons and one daughter.
Father J.J. Keane will say the requiem high mass for Lamb at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s church. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 21, 1949)
