Estherville – Services for Alma Brink, 84, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Robert Kunz officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home Monday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Brink died Thursday, Feb. 16 in Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Alma Elizabeth was born May 8, 1904 in Alton, Iowa, to John E. and Ida (Mulder) Jansen. She attended country schools near Alton, Morningside College in Sioux City and the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She married Waldo Brink Jan. 1, 1926 at Elk Point, S.D. The couple moved to Estherville in 1932. Mr. Brink operated a service station and Mrs. Brink taught school for the Maple Hill and Estherville school districts. Mr. Brink died Nov. 2, 1972. Mrs. Brink was a member of First Christian Church, Estherville and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Rodney of Ames, and Paul of Swarthmore, Pa; two brothers, Raymond Jansen of Carmichael, Calif., and Bernard Jansen of Fair Oaks, Calif., and one sister, Edith Erck of West Sacramento, Calif. and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 18, 1989)
