Peoria, Ill. – Graveside service for Mrs. J.L. (Ora) Brawford, 107, of Peoria, will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements. She died Sunday, March 20, 1994 at Lutheran Home in Peoria.

She was born April 18, 1886 in Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of Chauncey and Margaret (Purdy) Gaylord. She married J.L. Brawford Dec. 21, 1922 at Waterloo. He died April 8, 1968. She was a self-employed dressmaker for many years.

Survivors include three nieces: Mrs. Lucile Roupe, West Bend, Mrs. Beverly Lutz, Estherville and Mrs. Marguerite Schenck, Clear Lake, Calif.; several cousins and a friend, Mrs. Helen Tucker, Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1994)
