Services for William G. Harvey, 80, of Gruver, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Gruver Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Tuesday, Sept 6, 1994 at Rosewood Manor in Estherville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born June 25, 1914 at Gruver, the son of William and Susie (Grems) Harvey and attended Center Township school, rural Emmet County. On August 28, 1939 he was united in marriage with Pauline Myers at Spencer. The couple farmed two miles southeast of Gruver following their marriage. He was a longtime member of the Gruver Presbyterian church, where he served several terms as trustee. He served on the Gruver School Board seven years and was president of the board during the reorganization of the Dolliver and Gruver Schools. He was a charter member of Town and Country Kiwanis club, charter member of Emmet County Historical Society. He served on the board of Directors of Estherville Chamber of Commerce four years and was a Center township trustee many years. He served as a director on the Emmet Co. Mutual Ins. Co. 25 years, and helped Gruver Fire District and in building the fire hall.

Survivors include daughters: Mrs. Perry (Judy) Stow, North Mankato, Minn. and Mrs. Duane (Connie) Dahna of Estherville; grandchildren; Lynn Reisner, Mindy Dahana, Sarah and Jake Stow; and great-grandchild Ashley Reisner.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mar 31, 1988; parents; three brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1994)
