Estherville – Gladys Elser Borland, 88, Riverside, Calif., died Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Services for Mrs. Borland are tentatively set for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Father Roy Welke of St. Albons Episcopal Church, Spirit Lake, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville.

The daughter of the Rev. Jacob W. and Florence Cunningham Elser, she was born in February, 1890, at Edgewood. She graduated from Iowa State Teacher College, Cedar Falls, with a BA degree in Latin.

Mrs. Borland is survived by one nephew, John Elser McTavish, Lake Forest, Ill., and two nieces, Janet M. Hiley, Rochester, Minn., and Mary Catherine Robinson, Spirit Lake. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 15, 1978)
