Estherville – Services for Bertha Edith Blagg, 93, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm and the Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Friday.

Bertha Edith Woods was born June 17, 1895 at Estherville, the daughter of Herbert and Edith (Raymond) Woods. She was a 1913 Estherville graduate and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught several years before her marriage to Walter Blagg on March 9, 1921 at her parents’ farm near Dunnell, Minn. The couple farmed southeast of Estherville many years. She moved into Estherville in 1973.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church; UMW Alpha Club; Quilting Circle; East Riverside Club; a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the Estherville Senior Citizens.

Survivors include one son and wife John and Fauntelle Blagg, Estherville; five grandchildren: Mrs. Craig (Beth) Christiansen, St. James, Minn.; Mrs. Larry (Sue) Benz, Melvin; Gary and wife, Julie, Blue Earth, Minn.; David and Wife Lynn, Omaha and Jodi Blagg, Estherville and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961; parents; two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 19, 1989)
