Estherville – Services for Vera E. [Elizabeth] Bleasdell, 80, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. David Wendell officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1992 at Spencer Municipal Hospital, Spencer.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 7 – 9 p.m. Friday.

She was born Sept. 3, 1911 at Kingsley, the daughter of George and Jessie (Taylor) Woods and attended Kingsley School graduating from high school in 1929. She also attended Morningside College in Sioux City. She taught in country schools near Kingsley. Following her marriage to Edgar Bleasdell on Dec. 12, 1933 the couple farmed many years in the Cherokee, Quimby, Battle Creek and Kingsley areas. The family moved to Estherville in 1958. She was employed by the Estherville School District at Middle School cafeteria until retiring in 1977.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, past Sunday School teacher, involved in the quilting unit. She was also a member of the Circle Alpha Club.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Vancouver, Wash. and Bob of Ashland, Ore.; two daughters: Mrs. Ron (Karen) Mills, Spencer and Mrs. Jeff (Patsy) Holstein, Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Anna Brand and Emma Bainbridge both of Kingsley.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died Dec. 21, 1988; her parents; three brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 13, 1992)
