Mr. Jarvis Barker died at the home of his son, in the north part of town Monday of heart disease, aged eighty-two. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church and the body laid to rest in the west side cemetery Wednesday afternoon. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, October 25, 1894)
