Irene Marie Kinnard, the daughter of Edwin and Opal (Brown) Kinnard, was born February 27, 1926, in Estherville, Iowa. She died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 79 years.

She received her education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School.

On July 30, 1943, Irene was united in marriage to Marvin (M.C.) Cooklin in Marysville, California while he was serving in the military. The couple made their home in the Estherville area their entire married life. Irene was employed at Brown Shoe Fit Store for several years. She loved spending time with her family and after her retirement she dedicated her life to them. Marvin died September 25, 1989.

Irene was an active member of Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville. She faithfully attended Bible Study. She also took pleasure in being active and devoting her time to the Meals On Wheels Program in Estherville.

Left to cherish Irene's memory are her children, Marlene Smith and her husband, Ronald of Tampa, Florida; Robert Cooklin of Estherville; Rene Vogel of Richardson, Texas; Douglas Cooklin and his wife, Char of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Rhonda Hansen and her husband, Gary of Estherville; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Garrelts and her husband, Tom of Aurora, Colorado; and Marsha Sunde and her husband, Merrill of Estherville.

Preceding her in death were her husband; one son, Gerald; and her parents. (MC)
