Lillian Gladys Mellum, the daughter of Berger J. and Gea H. (Stene) Mellum was born June 17, 1921, in Belmont Township, Minnesota, and departed this life on Friday, March 3, 2006, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 84 years old.

She received her education in the rural country schools.

On January 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Goede at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple lived in Kasson and Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Lillian later worked at the Minnesota Egg Corporation in Jackson, Minnesota. She then moved to Estherville and worked at the Good Samaritan Care Center and also did house work for many different people. Arthur died September 10, 1993.

Church was a very important part of Lillian's life and she was an active member of Estherville Lutheran Church where she participated in circle.

Left to cherish Lillian's memory are her two sons, Walter Arthur Goede and his wife, Jean of Kansas City, Missouri; Myron Richard Goede of Omaha, Nebraska; Jennifer Anderson of Estherville; four grandchildren, Michelle Gilbertson and her husband, Jayson; Rachel Goede; Mike Goede; Megan Goede; four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kendra and Chloe Gilbertson; Jasper Goede; and two brothers, John A. Mellum and his wife, Gladys of Jackson; and Pastor Reuben D. Mellum and his wife, Clara of St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Bert Mellum; and two sisters, Myrtle Berkness; Selma Berkness. (MC)
