Bancroft - Funeral services for a longtime employee of the Bancroft Register, Joseph Helinsky, 72, were held Wednesday morning at the St. John's Catholic church here. Msgr. J. H. Schultes officiated and burial was in St. Patrick's church cemetery at Estherville.
Mr. Helinsky died Saturday (Sep 9 1967) at Veteran's hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient for about five weeks.
Joseph Francis Helinsky was born March 18, 1895 at Fairmont, Minn. He was married to Loretta Rose Stevens in St. Paul, Minn, on Dec. 19, 1921. The couple came to Bancroft in 1924 and Mr. Helinsky began work at the Bancroft Register.
From 1937 until 1943, he was employed at the state liquor store at Bancroft but for the next 22 years, until his retirement in 1965, he operated a Linotype machine for the Register.
He was a veteran of World War I naval units. His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 1963. Survivors include two granddaughters who made their home with the Helinskys: Fidelis, Mrs. George Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., and Calista, Mrs. Thomas Ford of Fort Dodge. There are also four sisters including Sister Rose Marie of Bancroft, and one brother.(Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, September 14, 1967)
