Manuel Woodyard Rites Wednesday
Manuel Woodyard, 79, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday [August 12, 1973] at his home in Estherville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating and interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Woodyard was born Dec. 7, 1893, in Auburn, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Woodyard. He received his education in Auburn schools and married Marjorie Carpenter July 5, 1917, in Boone.

Mr. Woodyard came to Emmet County with his parents in March of 1911 and lived on a farm southwest of Estherville until his marriage, at which time he moved to Estherville where he was employed by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.

In 1926, Mr. Woodyard went to work for the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad in Estherville and in 1948 went to work for John Morrell and Company in Estherville as a night watchman, where he worked until his retirement in 1960.

Mr. Woodyard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville.

Mr. Woodyard is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Clarence Woodyard and Donald (Woody) Woodyard, both of Estherville; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd of Estherville and Glen of Wallingford. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Harold; one daughter, Evelyn; one great-grandchildren and two brothers.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 13, 1973)
