Estherville – Services for Loyd Howard Wilson, 76, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Kunz officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with full military service by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388 and American Legion Post No. 91. He died Sunday, June 7, 1987 at his home.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born October 21, 1910 at Ravanna, Mo., the son of Walter and Edna Mae (Wooten) Wilson. He was a graduate of North High School in Des Moines. Following graduation he went to work for Ihles & McKinney delivering the Des Moines Register. He moved to Estherville in 1938 and continued his work for Ihles & McKinney. On Sept. 1, 1940 he was united in marriage with Lillian (Tillie) Frink at Estherville. He entered the U.S. Coast Guard in 1941 and served until 1945 in the Mediterranean Sea. Following his discharge he returned to Estherville and was employed by the Rock Island Railroad as a Fireman and Engineer for 30 years, retiring on June 1, 1975.

Wilson was a member of First Christian Church; North Star Masonic Lodge No. 447 serving as Tyler; United Transportation Union; Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen; Lifetime member of VFW Post 3388.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian, Estherville; one son Gary Wilson and wife, Spencer; one daughter, Mrs. Bob (Nancy) Green, Plainview, Neb.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one bother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 10, 1987)
