Ed Wilson Found Dead in Business Place
Ed Wilson, proprietor of a recreation hall in Superior, was found dead Tuesday [January 25, 1949] morning. Mr. Wilson, 70, was a resident of Estherville but he stayed in his business place through the night to keep up the fire and save a cold trip home.

Neighbors knocked on his door at 8:45 a.m. but they couldn’t raise anyone so they broke in and found him on his cot. Mayor Hoovel called the sheriff and coroner. Dr. K.L. Clayton’s examination indicates that he passed away about 7 a.m. of a heart ailment from which he had been suffering for some time. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, January 27, 1949)

Swea Cityan Found Dead in Tavern
Swea City – Edward Wilson, former Swea Cityan, was found dead in a tavern he operated near Superior, and the coroner pronounced death due to a heart attack. Wilson ordinarily commuted, but he slept at his place of business the night of his death. He is survived by his wife, the former Diamond Campbell, and two children. (Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, February 1, 1949)

Superior - Funeral services for Edward Wilson, of Estherville, were held Friday afternoon at Sternborg Funeral home. Mr. Wilson was found dead at his place of business at Superior Tuesday afternoon. He has had Ed’s Place for the past two years. Mr. Wilson has been suffering from an asmathic heart for about ten years and had been hospitalized with pneumonia early in the fall.

Mr. Wilson was born May 15, 1878 [per cemetery records 1879], in Illinois; received his education there. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.

Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lois, 9, and a stepdaughter, Geraldine Huffman of Estherville, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Brissol of Cedar Rapids. Burial was made in the Eastside Cemetery at Estherville. Those attending from here were Virgil Johnson, M.O. Reuland, and Jens Nelson. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, February 3, 1949)
