H.E. Willhour, 77, Dies; Rites to Be Saturday
Howard E. Willhour, 77, Estherville, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday ,[April 22, 1970]. He had been in failing health for several years.He was born Aug. 4, 1892 [per WWI draft records, 1891], at Dows to Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Willhour and was educated in the Dows schools.
On Oct. 11, 1915, he was married to Lena Marie Schrock at Dows. Following their marriage they lived in Dows for a short time. They moved to Estherville in 1917, where he was employed by the Rock Island Railroad for 49 years, mostly as a yard clerk. He retired in January, 1964.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Gilbert, Mrs. Arthur Kaltvedt and Mrs. Glen Fisher, all of Estherville, all of Estherville; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Bowen, Estherville; and one brother, Clifford Willhour, who lives in Kansas.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife and one sister.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Rev. Dick Pearson and Rev. Val Hauck officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today until time of services on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Donald Fisher, Dewaine Fisher, Robert, Ronald, David and Kenneth Kaltvedt. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 24, 1970)
