Mrs. Howard Willhour Dies at 65
Mrs. Howard (Lena Marie) Willhour, 65, longtime Estherville resident, died yesterday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital of cancer. She had been hospitalized for the past month and had been in rapidly failing health for six weeks.The former Lena Marie Schrock was born Feb. 15, 1898 [per cemetery records, 1899], the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schrock, in Wadena. She received her education in the Wadena schools.
She was married to Howard Willhour on Oct. 11, 1915, in Dows and they moved to Estherville in February of 1916 where Mr. Willhour was an employee of the Rock Island Railroad. They had made Estherville their home since that time.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Glen (Helen) Fisher, Mrs. Art (Lavone) Kaltvedt, Mrs. Clarence (Margie) Gilbert, all of Estherville; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one brother, Walter Schrock, Arlington; one sister, Mrs. Frank Bradley, Excello, Mo.; and one aunt, Mary Jennings, Wadena. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Reese Funeral Home chapel and public services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after noon on Thursday until 2:30 p.m. Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 18, 1963)
